Meats, grains, and.... Maple Syrup??

Did you know that we make maple syrup as well? During winter, the rush on our farm slows down a bit so we have found some hobbies to keep us busy. Syrup boiling all started as an intriguing hobby two years ago. That year we collected enough sap to make around 7 gallons of syrup. However, this year we were able to collect enough to make about 12 gallons of syrup. Did you know it takes roughly 40 gallons of sap to boil down to make just 1 gallon of maple syrup?? This is purely something we do for fun and as a family activity in the winter. Once this year we almost had the entire family heading to the woods to collect sap. Right now it is simply for fun and for our extended family to enjoy, but you never know. Someday you might see “Paynter Family Organic Syrup” for sale as well!
